Oregon Scientific Products Selected For WIRED LivingHome

Oregon Scientific announced that five products from the 2007 line have been selected for the first-ever WIRED LivingHome. This modern luxury residence designed by Ray Kappe will serve as an example of how people can effectively balance green living with high technology and high design. The Oregon Scientific products were chosen for their innovative blend of technology, design and affordability.

The Oregon Scientific products selected for the WIRED LivingHome are:

The digital video camera can be plugged directly into a television for an instant replay or the footage can downloaded to a PC or Mac via USB and works seamlessly with most editing software.

• SmartGlobe: Kids and families can now discover the Australian outback and listen to notable facts from around the world from the comfort of their own home with the SmartGlobe, the only globe that can be continuously updated. A unique and bilingual product, the SmartGlobe contains nearly 30 learning activities in English and six in Spanish, plus downloadable modules allow you to learn in your choice of 6 other languages. All activities can be customized by age group (5-8 years old, 9-14 and 15+), and are easily updated via USB. The SmartGlobe has received numerous awards including the 2007 Educational Toy of the Year Award, one of the industry’s highest honors.

• Talking Wireless BBQ/Oven Thermometer: No need to wait by the oven or grill to find out when dinner is ready. This wireless thermometer verbally alerts you (in your choice of five languages) when the meat has reached the perfect temperature - from up to a football field away. Program your choice of eight entrees, select the desired doneness and get back to entertaining.

• Daylight Projection Clock: Daylight LED projection displays time and temperature on any surface in any light condition. Sensors will detect if the light in the room intensifies, and increase the strength of the projection.

• Professional Wireless Weather Station: Capturing weather data has never been easier. Featuring a rotary dial for easy information access, this weather station monitors six different weather measurements and includes an atomic clock for precise time. An all-in-one sensor pole offers easy set-up, with expandable sensors for additional weather monitoring.

BusinessWeek Takes ATC-1000 Schusshing Down the Mountain!

Jay Greene says ATC-1000 is a hit in his house, after taking it with him on a recent family ski trip.

"... the best way to capture all the fun on the slopes is with a camera. As an alternative to hauling around a digital camcorder, Oregon Scientific has come up with a way to lash one onto the top of your ski helmet. Its $120 ATC-1000 is a five-inch tube with a tiny camera and microphone at the end. The camera stores about ten minutes of video at its highest resolution setting, but users can add an hour or more of storage by inserting a secure digital memory card in the device. The video quality: just O.K. I grabbed footage of my 7- and 10-year-old boys zipping down the slopes. It wasn''''''''t quite worthy of snow sports filmmaker Warren Miller. But it''''''''s a top-rated production in my house."
